what is a session like?
a 1:1 session starts with a check-in about how you are arriving and how your home practice is going. from there, we work together to decide what you want to focus on in our session, and we move into a relevant practice or process to support that goal. workshops & groups start with some combination opening practices, container building, and checking in. from there, we usually move into partnered practice of some kind (where participants partner with each other), and then we come back together to debrief those practices as a group.

is it like a class?
no and yes. for 1:1 sessions, you are in charge of what we are focusing on, and i am partnering with you to figure out how somatics can support what you bring to the surface. sometimes, i will share relevant methodological framework pieces so we can have a shared vocabulary. workshops and groups might feel more like a class as i do hold an agenda for these spaces. however, workshops and groups that i run also leave a lot of room for what is coming to life, which at times makes diverging from any agenda necessary.

how long does it take?
like a lot of things, even “dipping a toe” into this work can have a profoud impact. however, somatics is not a quick fix. it is a way of coming into relationship as your body, your aliveness, as a path and not a project. in order to begin to bring this work into the tissues, i recommend planning for a minimum 1:1 engagement of 6-10 months.
