hi there

i'm kmo

It's pronounced kay-moe! I use they & she pronouns. Thanks for being here. Here's some info about my background & my approach. If you're looking for information on somatics itself, follow this link.

who i work with

I am honored to work with: queer & trans folks --  neurodivergent folks -- recovering perfectionists -- overthinkers -- organizers & activists seeking to ground movement in our bodies -- spiritual people looking to experience the divine through the felt sense of being alive -- anyone feeling stuck around turning insight into action

approach

To me, healing means coming into peace with what was through what is in order to claim our agency in what will be. Healing is not restoration, it’s transformation: a continued becoming that seeks to integrate our many habits, patterns, wounds, strengths, joys, resistances, ad infinitum into a congruent, present-time whole that has more choice. I hold embodiment work as inherently liberatory, since systems of oppression put us in extractive relationships with everything, including the bodies that we are. I strive to practice somatics in a way that invites us into a different relationship with aliveness.

my history with somatics

I first encountered somatics in my therapist’s office in 2019. A standing practice we did together shifted the way I was reckoning with a big transition. Over the course of a couple years, I learned more about the modality & began incorporating it into my cosmology, which eventually led to training as a practitioner.

working background

I come from many years of waiting tables and working as a stage manager in theater, which are both roles that appealed to me out of a desire to be of service to others. I see stepping into somatic practitionership as an evolution of that desire, with the added dimension of wanting to be in work that directly contributes to collective liberation.

philosophy

My offering is deeply informed by my relationship to poetry & spirit. These are dimensions that may or may not tangibly surface in our work together, but they are present for me most of the time. It is my hope that my work can impact our collective movement toward a more just human world that is congruent with our place in the family of things by helping others into a loving, reverent relationship with what is.

identity pieces

As a person of indeterminate gender, I am keen to offer this work to other folks with similar identities. I am a lifelong student of queer and trans brilliance. I'm white & abled. I've walked with disordered eating, substance abuse, & mental illness. I strive to work from a place of harm reduction that continually divests from the systems of oppression that shape us.
